About

History
The idea of making nothing into something and turning an idea into a reality allowed for the creation of Island Heights Construction by highschool friends Ian and Robert. Together, they established Island Heights in 2019 and started their new life in the construction business. The pandemic in 2020 was a shock to everyone , but it allowed for them to jump feet first into a full time business. Soon, the duo became a trio with D’Arcy joining in Early 2020. The team gained further experience in the building industry and have increased their goals and vision for their company. The goal is simple: “earn your client’s trust through honesty and providing professional craftsmanship, and never stop trying to learn and get better”.
If you wonder what Island Heights offers, give us a call to discuss what projects we can help you with. We are insured, WCB covered and have an intercity business license that allows us to work up and down Vancouver Island. Contact us today and let’s start talking about your dream project.
Our Team

Ian Orth
Ian has lived the majority of his life on Vancouver Island. After graduating from Simon Fraser University he moved back to the island and started his construction career. From working at a lumber yard, to becoming an apprentice electrician followed closely behind by gaining his Interprovincial Red Seal ticket as a Journeyman electrician. His experience within the electrical field has allowed him to gain experience with every sub trade in the building process. Interaction with sub trades at the foundation, rough-in and finishing stages, allows for a vast experience in the building process . Ian brings over a decades-worth of experience in both project management and electrical-residential and commercial projects.
At present, Ian oversees project management, client relations, and marketing for Island Heights.
D’Arcy Neville
D’Arcy is the head of Island Heights’ construction team and undoubtedly an ace for carpentry. He served in the military and earned experience in surveying. With more than 15 years of combined experience as a laborer, foreman, and carpenter, our clients can expect only the best output. He got his Interprovincial Canadian Red-Seal trade license soon after completing the carpentry program in college. Off from work, he likes mountain biking.

Robert Hayes
Robert oversees the financial side of Island Heights. After over a decade of living overseas working in operations management and holding executive positions in the customer service and tech industry, he decided to move back to Vancouver Island and co-founded Island Heights with Ian.
